26I think then that because of the impending distress, it is good for a man to remain as he is. 24Brothers, let each one remain with God in that condition in which he was called.Ģ5Now concerning the virgins I have no command of the Lord, but I give my opinion as one who by the Lord’s mercy is trustworthy.

22For he who was a slave when he was called in the Lord is a freedman of the Lord, likewise he who was free when he was called is a slave of Christ. 20Each one should remain in the condition in which he was called.Ģ1Were you a slave when you were called? Do not worry about that but if you are able to gain your freedom, do that. 19Circumcision is nothing, and uncircumcision is nothing, but what matters is keeping the commandments of God. Has anyone been called while uncircumcised? He is not to be circumcised. 18Was anyone at the time of his calling circumcised? He is not to become uncircumcised. This is the rule I make in all the churches. 16For how do you know, wife, whether you will save your husband ? Or how do you know, husband, whether you will save your wife ?ġ7Only, let each one live the life which the Lord has assigned him, and to which God has called him. In such cases the brother or sister is not bound. 15But if the unbelieving partner leaves, let him leave. Otherwise your children would be unclean, but as it is they are holy. 14For the unbelieving husband is sanctified through his wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified through her believing husband. 13And if any woman has an unbelieving husband, and he consents to live with her, she must not leave him. 9But if they do not have self-control, they should marry for it is better to marry than to burn with passion.ġ0But to the married I give instructions-not I, but the Lord-that the wife is not to separate from her husband, 11(but even if she does leave him, let her remain single or else be reconciled to her husband) and that the husband should not leave his wife.ġ2To the rest I declare-I, not the Lord -that if any brother has a wife who does not believe, and she consents to live with him, he must not leave her. 7I wish that all the people were as I am but each person has his own gift from God, one of this kind and one of that.ĨBut I say to the unmarried and to the widows, it is good if they remain as I am. 6But I am saying this as a concession, not as a command. 5Do not deprive each other, except perhaps by mutual consent for a time, so that you may devote yourselves to prayer, but come together again so that Satan will not tempt you because of your lack of self-control. 4The wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband shares with her and likewise the husband does not have authority over his body, but the wife shares with him. 3The husband must fulfill his duty to his wife, and likewise the wife to her husband.
2But because of sexual immorality, let each man have his own wife, and let each woman have her own husband. 1Now as to the matters of which you wrote: It is good (beneficial, advantageous) for a man not to touch a woman.
